The Northwest Missouri State baseball team went 1-3 Sunday and Monday in a three game series with Lindenwood in the St. Louis area. In Monday's doubleheader the Bearcats lost the opener 7-4 but came back to take the nightcap 5-4. The Bearcats scored four runs in the first inning to take control of the game. Northwest goes to 2-9 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA and is scheduled to host Central Oklahoma this Saturday and Sunday at Bearcat Field.
The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat softball team went 1-4 over the weekend competing in the Northern Sun/M-I-Double-A Crossover tournament held in Rochester, Minnesota. On Saturday, the Bearcats shutout Sioux Falls 1-0 before losing to Upper Iowa 5-1 and Concordia-St. Paul 4-2. The Northwest softball team's record falls to 8-4. Up next for the Bearcats, a trip to Joplin this weekend for a tournament hosted by Missouri Southern.
Two individuals and one relay team from the Northwest Indoor Track and Field squads earned All-MIAA honors during this past weekend's conference championships held in Warrensburg. Eli Smith finished third in the 400-meters... provisionally qualifying for the national meet in that event. Travis Manning finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal best time. The women's 4-400 relay team consisting of Ashton Nibert, Alexis Boyd, Samantha Fender and Chloe Wichman placed second with an NCAA provisional time in earning All-MIAA status.
The Northwest men's tennis team ranked 25th edged 17th ranked Drury 5-4 Sunday in a match held in Springfield, Missouri The Bearcats improve to 2-1 while Drury suffered just their first loss of the season...falls to 5-1. In another battle of top tennis teams in the Central region... the Northwest men's tennis team lost a close 5-4 decision to Oauchita Baptist in a match held in Springfield, Missouri on Saturday.
The Northwest women's tennis team split matches Saturday in Springfield with a 5-oh shutout of Arkansas Tech before losing to Drury 6-3. The Bearcat women are off until Friday when they host Southeastern Oklahoma.
