Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross will host a training day for new volunteers next week.

The Workshop prepares participants to shelter and feed victims after natural disasters. Emergency Services Director Karla Long says the weather this time of year presents a higher risk which increases the need for volunteers.

Long says the workshop is Tuesday from 9am to 4pm at the St. Joseph Red Cross Facility. Anyone interested in becoming a Red Cross volunteer can call 816-232-8439 for more information.
