Soybean

Mullens

MARYVILLE, MO (2012-02-29)

The National Center for Soybean Biotechnology in Missouri has begun to sequence the DNA of over a thousand commercially important soybean varieties.

The director of plant science at the University of Missouri, Dr. Michael Collins, says this is important for soybean farmers. He says when they understand which genes affect nutrition and yield it could be profitable for farmers.

Collins also says this could help improve human and livestock nutrition.
