No Child Funding

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2012-02-22)

Low-performing schools in our region could be seeing more funding.

The state of Missouri is asking for a waiver from some of the requirements of the federal no child left behind law. If approved, the money would go to the lowest-performing buildings with a focus on better learning. Margie Vandeven with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary education says there would be a push toward improvement, not just proficiency.

Just 11 states have been given no child left behind waivers from the federal government.
