ATCHISON, KS (2012-02-14)

Atchison Kansas High School students are replacing textbooks for iPads.

The school board votes unanimously to accept the one to one iPad initiative for their 535 students in 9th through 12th grades, plus the alternative school students. District technology director Donna Knoll says the project has been in the works for the last 5 years.

Knoll says there is a cost savings to the district. For example the current biology textbook used at Atchison High costs more than $81 per book. It can be downloaded on the iPad for around $15.
