A Weatherby man is seriously injured after an accident in DeKalb county yesterday morning.

20-year-old Calvin Gunn was driving southbound on Route A about half a mile south of Fairport in his 2004 Ford pickup. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Gunn entered a curve at a high rate of speed and traveled across the center line and off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a mailbox, went over a private driveway, struck the ground, became airborne again, then overturned. The pickup struck the ground 3 more times before striking a fence and finally coming to a rest off the road. Gunn was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, receiving serious injuries. Gunn was taken by ambulance to Maysville Hospital, then life-flighted to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
