A Bedford man continues his group's mission of literally saving lives across the globe using table salt and a battery.

He's part of "SWIM" which stands for "Safe Water International Ministries". The Iowa based group fights bacterial pollution in 3rd world water supplies combating a startling statistic: 25,000 people die from water-related diseases. That's each and every day. The group is using a hand-held unit that creates electrolysis to convert table salt to chlorine, which then kills bacteria in the water. Bedford resident David Spencer is a member of "SWIM" and says nearly a thousand of the devices are now in use in several countries. The battery is charged with a solar panel and can meet the needs of an entire village of thousand people.
