MARYVILLE, MO (2011-02-28)
Maryville leaders say they are "Pleasantly Surprised" with the US Census numbers.
The Nodaway County Seat has bucked the trend of the last several decades and over the last 10 years has increased its population by 13% attracting nearly 1,400 new residents. Maryville City Manager Matt LeCerf says there could be several factors that translate to the positive growth. LeCerf says the city will be pointing to the increased population in economic development efforts and could even be used to attract grants and other funding opportunities.
