ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2010-2-16) An-off duty St. Joseph police officer takes action but is accused of an abduction.
Now the woman making the complaint has been charged with filing a false police report. The St. Joseph police department says they conducted numerous interviews with eye-witnesses of the incident at the St. Joseph Office Max store. Police say because of the notable conflicts between those interviews and the alleged victim they charged the 44 year old woman with filing a false police report. The St. Joseph police department points out police officers do have the legal authority to take enforcement action even when they are off-duty. It also says the officer in question did produce and display identification as required. The St. Joseph police say if there's any question, citizens can contact 911 to confirm the officer's identity and can even request a uniform officer come to the scene.
