MARYVILLE, MO (2010-2-10) With Valentines day approaching, we're all looking for that special gift for our loved ones.

The new Nodaway Humane Society has an idea to sign up to be an honorary Shelter Buddy! Supporters choose a dog or cat to sponsor by a $10 gift each month until the animal is adopted. This helps with the animals veterinarian bills, food, and care. Program organizer Marlene Thompson says February is a time to love even the animals. The Animal Shelter says that in addition to the monthly fee, shelter buddies are invited to visit and spend time with the animal.
