ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2010-2-25) If you're driving in St. Joseph today, know the police have an eye on you.
It's part of the St. Joseph police department's "Click It or Ticket" enforcement campaign. Officers are on the look-out for seat belt violators. And they've got good reason. In 2008 in the St. Joseph high schools alone, seat belt use averaged just 57%, even though it is the State's law. The department says just 77% of Missouri drivers as a whole buckle up. Yet 70% of Missouri's highway fatalities weren't wearing a seatbelt.
