Jefferson City, MO (2009-12-31) New laws going into effect January first drops safety inspections for some Missouri vehicles.
Cars and trucks will be exempt for the first 5 years following the model year.
For example, a car made in 2006 won't have to be safety inspected until 2012.
State officials say this will mean fewer people will have to get their vehicles inspected and bring one less document when they renew their plates in Missouri.
