A changing industry is prompting a changed major at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
The mass communication department is streamlining its traditional bachelor of science in journalism, broadcasting, and applied advertising to now offer a bachelor of science degree in mass media. Department chair Dr. Doug Sudhoff says the comprehensive new major comes after interviewing newsroom, advertising, and other industry leaders in a media industry that's changing nearly daily.
Students will be able to specialize by choosing an emphasis in multimedia journalism, broadcast and production, applied advertising, or a new offering, sports media. Instructors will start teaching new degree this upcoming fall.© Copyright, KXCV
