A keynote speaker at an upcoming Iowa conference says Midwest farmers are starting to follow consumer-driven buying trends.

Fedele Bauccio will be speaking at the 2012 practical farmers of Iowa annual conference in January. He says thanks to consumer demand, food companies are asking farmers for produce that's fresh, and regional. He says that's also being driven by the green-movement.

He says chemically, free food is another hot trend for the upcoming year.
