KANSAS CITY, MO (2011-12-22)
A major electric utility for north Missouri files a request the state to recover losses from this sumemr's Missouri River Flooding.
KCP&L is asking state regulators for permission to undertake certain accounting procedures to fix the budgetary problems. It says those stem from the interruption of coal supplied to some of its power plants caused by the floods. Two of its plants are north of Weston and were impacted by the flood waters. The company is wanting to defer some of the added costs incurred when coal couldn't get to the plants and fuel costs to keep them running skyrocketed.
