CHILLICOTHE, MO (2011-12-13)
More arrests after a meth investigation in the Chillicothe area widens.
As we first told you last week, it started with seizing two alleged labs, one in Chillicothe and one in the southern part of the county. Now, the investigation has put several underage children in protective custody or with family members and even transferred 13 dogs the Livingston County Sheriff's Office says were part of what looked like an unlicensed puppy mill. Sheriff Steve Cox say as the drug investigation goes on, they are solving several recent burglaries. 7 people have been arrested for various drug-related crimes. The latest are Jessie Allen of Joplin, Gay Owens of Chillicothe, and Amanda Parks of Carl Junction. Most of the suspects are being held on $50,000 cash only bonds. Sheriff Cox says his office and officers from the state patrol, Chillicothe Police, and northern Missouri "nitro" task force continue following up on leads.
