Whooping Cough

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2010-12-17) Staying healthy during winter travel is always a challenge, and now a fairly serious disease has been confirmed in Missouri.

Whooping cough has been seen in 185 cases in St. Louis county so far this year, 2/3 of those in the past 6 weeks. Contagious disease expert with the County Health Department there doctor Fisal Kahn says whooping cough is highly contagious, spreading through the air when a victim sneezes or coughs. Those most at risk are infants, young children, and pregnant women. Missouri has one of the lowerst vaccination rates for whooping cough in the country.
