Solstice Bike Ride

Wayman

SHENANDOAH, IA (2010-12-16) Bike riders are braving the cold again this year near Shenandoah for an annual event on Saturday.

It's the wabash trace Winter Solstice Ride and celebration. Bicyclists ride on the old railroad bed east of Shenandoah, then have a get together afterwards. Organizer Bill Danforth says it's an excuse to celebrate the days starting to get brighter and for friends to get together. The Winter Solstice Bike Ride is about 5 miles. It starts this Saturday afternoon promptly at 3:38 starting from the depot restaurant in Shenandoah with a warming station half way through, then a baked potato bar, chili, and cider at the Old Izaak Walton building starting at 5:38.
