MARYVILLE, MO (2010-12-15) Upgrades could be in store for Mound City's community building.
Known as "The Klub", a family has approached officials wanting to make a sizeable donation to build a new front entrance, complete with a covered porch over a concrete drive. Right now there doesn't appear to be enough room to build the additions without using city land. Organizers are talking with the Mound City Board of Aldermen to see if an easement might be available or if the city would sell off some of the lot. Talks continue with the city attorney, with a spring construction date targeted. The Mound City Aldermen also voted to discontinue adding fluoride to the town's water supply as soon as current supplies have been used. Aldermen also voted to close city hall next Friday, December 24th, since Christmas falls the next day.
