ST. LOUIS, MO (2010-12-21) New 2010 Census figures are being released today.

which might be bad news for Missouri, which could lose a congressional seat as a result. Some experts say the state is just shy of the population it would need to retain all of its 9 seats in the US house. Political Science professor at Washington University Steven Smith says that would mean a substantial loss for Missouri's influence on capitol hill. Some southern and western states, which have seen considerable population growth, are expected to gain seats in congress as a result of this year's Census.
