ATCHISON COUNTY, MO (2010-12-09) An Atchison County farm leader is elected president of the Missouri Farm Bureau.
Blake Hurst of Westboro will take the top spot in the powerful Agriculture lobby, replacing retiring Farm Bureau president Charlie Kruse who held that seat for 18 years. Hurst, who's served as the organization's vice president for the past 7 years, is jumping into the leadership role immediately going to Washington D.C next week for the National American Farm Bureau meeting. Hurst and his wife Juile farms 4,500 acres of row crops in Atchison county along with his father, two brothers, nephew, and son in law. He and his daughter also operate a wholsale greenhouse selling plants in four states.
