MARYVILLE, MO (2010-12-14) $12,000 in debt.
That's how much the new Nodaway Humane Society Shelter says it owes vendors and the very operations are being threatened. The shelter in Maryville serves not just the city's animal control issues, but also has contracts with several other nearby communities in the county. Long time volunteer Marlene Thompson says without community support, the shelter might have to give up its "No-Kill" status and begin the unthinkable: Euthanizing healthy animals. You can hear more about the condition of the animal shelter in our "Morning Conversation" that airs at 11:06 this morning.
