IOWA (2010-12-23) Despite good will this time of year, some prey on the giving spirit by ramping up scams.

The season for charitable giving is in high gear, and experts say con artists are taking advantage. Iowa attorney general's office spokesman Geoff Greenwood says many scammers pose as charities calling out of the blue asking for money. Experts say on-line givers should also be careful to double-check the site they are on is actually legitimate and not one with a similar name aimed at confusing would be victims.
