MARYVILLE, MO (2008-12-08) The state completes an audit of Atchison County Missouri government and finds a few weaknesses.
The report says the county hasn't adopted an investment policy of any kind as required by state statutes.
Auditors recommend the county develop one and check it annually.
County commissioners say they weren't aware that was required but say they'll work with attorneys to adopt a policy.
Auditors also question why only the treasurer as access to the vault code.
They say the county's inability to access the treasurer's records should change in the event that person is gone.
And they suggest some minor changes in the way atchison county officials record check transactions.
