MARYVILLE, MO (2009-12-21) Two Northwest Missouri lawmakers are warning education officials it's going to be a tough 2 years ahead.
Both Senator Brad Lager and Representative Mike Thomson outlined the dire budget picture for Missouri to Northwest Missouri State Regents.
Both are advocating K-12 education and higher education be helped as more than 60 percent of the state's revenues come from income taxes.
But Senator Lager told the University with the budget crisis starting in January, schools are going to have to formulate both vision and partnerships if they want funding fixes.
Missouri lawmakers fear they'll have to cut about half a (b)illion dollars from the state budget for the next fiscal year.... And about a billion and a half out of the budget next year.
