ST. JOSEPH, MO (12/15/08) St. Joseph Cold Shelter
St. Joseph's cold weather shelter is seeing some relief through a new funding opportunity.
Interserv learned last week that their funding had been cut in half because of a population shift.
The result would have meant the shelter would have opened about two weeks later, and closed two weeks ealier.
It's normally open from January first to the end of March.
But Bridget Supple, Executive Director of Interserv, says through new grants and reccomendations, they may be able to make up some of the deficit.
Interserv is also working with the Salvation Army to ensure St. Joseph's homeless have a place to stay over the next several nights.
The shelter is currently set to open on a regular basis the first Monday in January.
