Community leaders across north Missouri continue pushing for better broadband Internet access in the region.

A planning session held yesterday in Maryville brought together K through 12 and higher ed educators, agricultural interests, and local government officials to discuss rural broadband in rural Missouri. Two of the issues of concern are not just availability, but also speed for functions like video conferencing. Tye Parsons is the executive director of the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of governments. They have been working on broadband access for years and he says rural Missouri can't be left behind.

Similar meetings are being held across the state, with a November conference planned to put all the ideas together regarding broadband access in the show-me-state. You can still give your input to state officials by going to a survey on the website, "MOBroadbandnow.com"
