MARYVILLE, MO (2011-08-9)
The effort to create a Nodaway County Enhanced Enterprise Zone takes a giant leap forward.
Last night the Maryville City Council ended 9 months of consideration and gave formal approval as a partner in the process. Now, a few more communities within Nodaway county most likely will follow which will allow an application to go to the state creating an EEZ and giving tax abatements to wind power companies interested in building turbines throughout the county. Nodaway County Economic Development director Lee Langerock says with multiple townships and tax levies in place, the wind companies need the EEZ to make it worth coming here.
