Maryville residents had a short time to seek shelter from Thursday night's storms that moved through northwest Missouri.

Maryville Public Safety director Keith Wood says the first storm system changed directions quickly causing problems in getting the community notified.

Wood says one person attending the downtown celebration sustained minor injuries after being struck by a street baracade.
