Guthrie Search

Wayman

HOLT COUNTY, MO (2011-08-9)

It's been more than a week now since Northwest Missouri Water Patrol trooper Fred Guthrie Junior presumably drowned in Holt county flood waters.

The Highway Patrol says they are just as determined as ever to continue the search although how that unfolds might change. Troop H spokesman Sheldon Lyon in St. Joseph says after a week of Highway Patrol, local law enforcers, the military, and locals coming up empty handed, the search strategy may change.

Lyon estimates the flooded area searchers are focusing on in 1 to 2 miles away from the main Missouri River channel. He adds evening lighting storms have been the biggest threat lately as the searchers are forced to pull off the water but they are keeping lit boars on overnight as conditions allow them to.
