Disaster Committee

Wayman

SAVANNAH, MO (2011-08-29)

Savannah senator Brad Lager serves on the state senate's interim committee on disaster recovery.

The group is looking at ways Missouri can tackle the Joplin Tornado and North Missouri Flooding along the Missouri River. Lawmakers are tackling the recovery from three viewpoints: emergency resources, fiscal preparedness, and insurance response. Lager says he's explaining to other lawmakers that agriculture producers hit with Missouri River Flooding can't rely totally on the federal crop insurance program to cover them.

The interim committee on disaster recovery is expected to issue a report to the full senate in the coming months.
