NORTH CENTRAL MISSOURI (2010-08-05) Another 21 million dollars are on the way to a North Central telephone company to help bring residents broadband internet.
The federal USDA grant was announced yesterday morning and is coming to grand river mutual. The corporation plans to use more than 12 million of the dollars to put in fiber to the home networks in the Linneus, Meadville, Browning, and Purdin areas. Another 9 million will expand fiber optic broadband to reach new Hampton, Denver, and Gentry Missouri. Grand river general manager Wendell Meyers says after getting several million from the grant earlier this year, lightening has struck twice. The new grand river lines should bring broadband internet to about 4,000 residents in North Central Missouri.
