HOLT COUNTY, MO (2010-08-05) Mo-Dot says a Northwest Missouri highway damaged by the Holy County flooding in June will stay closed for at least the rest of this month.
Crews had to wait until yesterday for flood waters to recede and start working on repairs to highway 159. The pavement on 159 has holes for five miles running from route P at Fortesque to the Nebraska State line. But Mo-Dot's Holly Murphy says the main problem is erosion. Murphy adds crews are even having to remove logs and other debris the flooding deposited on highway 159 in Holt County. Again that stretch from Fortesque and Nebraska will be completely closed to all traffic until the end of this month at the earliest.
