BROOKFIELD, MO. (2010-08-23) Brookfield R-3 school district sets the tax levy for this year.

The operation levy will be nearly $3.41 / $100 valuation. The debt service levy for the district will be $0.63, for a total levy of 4.0397. Board members at the meeting also heard an update on the state's bleak budget picture for education. The oversight department for elementary and secondary education is now estimating a revenue shortfall of $869 million for the 2011-2012 school year. That's nearly $270 more than the previous deficit projections.
