St. Jeosph, MO (2009-08-11) No buried barrels have been found as part of the Cameron Cancer Investigation.
That's the latest from state D-N-R officials, who launched two separate investigations into barrels buried and linked to the St. Joseph Tannery. That tannery has been giving by products to Northwest Missouri farmers, who have been spreading it on farmland as agricultural fertilizer. The D-N-R says ground penetrating radar and survey analysis finds no indication of buried barrels not at the St. Joseph plant nor in farmland near Agency, Missouri. The St. Joseph Tannery investigation has been ongoing since April of this year... and has found levels of a unhealthy chemical have been applied to farmland... but not at levels that would cause health concerns. The Missouri D-N-R continues to take tips from the public during its investigation.
