Maryville raises rates for solid waste disposals at the transfer station.

The city council approved a rate increase of $1.50 per ton raising the per-ton fee to $54. The council also eliminated the sliding scale fee adopted 5 year ago. Maryville city manager Greg McDanel says the sliding scale wasn't bring in new business as originally hoped.

McDanel says the new solid waste disposal pricing takes effect on June 4th.
