Taylor County Courthouse Damage

The Taylor County continues to recover from last weeks severe thunderstorms.

The courthouse and the sheriffs department in Bedford, Iowa received significant damage. Both were struck by lighting. The main communications were taken out at the Sheriff's office. Some employees at the Sheriff's office saw sparks fly through the computer systems in their building. New equipment had to be flown in from Washington state allowing them to install new equipment. Also the Taylor County Courthouse received damage to its computer and telephone services. County supervisor Rob Langquist says they are still having a variety problems take place with the equipment.

Langquist says the damage will cost the county around $150,000.
