Maryville Drug Testing

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2012-04-05)

Parents and administrators continue discussing the proposed drug testing policy at Maryville schools.

The district is considering random drug testing among middle and high school students. That would include a pool of students in grades 6 through 12, selected at random. The pool would be made up of students who participate in the district's extra curricular activities or who apply for parking passes at the high school. Rosemary Stiens was among the majority of parents at Wednesday night's meeting who don't necessarily disagree with the program, but thinks there's room for improvement.

Maryville superintendent Larry Linthacum says he and board plan to go back to work immediately on revisions based on the parent feedback.
