Blunt on Farm Bill

Federal lawmakers are hashing out the details of the next federal farm bill this week.

Missouri Senator Roy Blunt says the pulse of lawmakers seems to indicate a move away from direct payments to ag producers, in favor of funding insurance programs instead.

Blunt adds he'd be surprised if both houses could agree on a farm bill and have the president's signature before the November election. An senate amendment offered by Blunt yesterday to move millions for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers from protecting wildlife over to Missouri River management failed by one vote.
