SOUTH MISSOURI, MO (2011-04-27)
Some travel is at stand-still and about 400 citizen soldiers from the Missouri National Guard are now on the ground in south Missouri, trying to help with local flood relief efforts making national headlines.
Around 430 roads are closed in south Missouri, most south of Interstate 44 and more rain is forecast. Mayor Tamara Spicer is a spokeswoman with the guard and says calling in soldiers should give an idea on how bad conditions are. Most guardsmen activated are from central and southern Missouri. THey are sandbagging, monitoring levees, providing door to door safety visits, and supporting law enforcement and first responders.
