MARYVILLE, MO (2011-04-22)
Even though Missouri Senators have passed their version of the state's 2012 budget, some are warning about an ongoing budget crisis.
At issue is the state's fiscal policy and its impact on future budgets. Cape Girardeau Republican Jason Crowell says the use of one-time federal funds in this year's state budget could create a budget shortfall as high as 700 million dollars next year. Senate appropriations chair Kurt Schaefer agrees but says the problem will be discussed next year. The Missouri budget returns to the house now, where they are expected to work out differences with the senate version before sending it to the governor.
