SKIDMORE, MO (2011-04-21)
Habitat for humanity's homeowner selection process begins next Saturday, April 30th.
The partner family chosen this year will be Nodaway county's 7th habitat family, and will help construct the 2011/2012 habitat home and purchase it through a 20 year, zero interest mortage, which is the bedrock of the habitat process. The habitat for humanity model serves families with an annual income between 25 and 60% of the median family income for Nodaway county, thereby helping those whose income exceeds government assistance guidelines but is not sufficient to obtain a conventional loan through a bank or other financial institution. Joan Schneider, board president of habitat for humanity, says the selection process for this year's family is different than past years. Those interested in the next habitat home or who have questions about the process must attend one of the information meetings. The meetings will take place Saturday, April 30, at the Skidmore United Methodist Church, Hopkins Community Building, and Burlington Junction City Hall. All meetings begin at 9 Saturday morning.
