ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-4-25) The City of St. Joseph has gotten its "Tree City USA" designation for the 17th year in a row.

The honor comes after a community puts in a variety of investments into being "Tree Friendly", including having a tree care ordinance, A tree board or department, community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor day observance and proclamation. The St. Joseph designation as Tree City will be celebrated on Friday with a tree planting at Edison Elementary School on North 22nd Street. That starts at 10 this Friday morning.
