MARYVILLE, MO (2010-4-15) The memory of a legendary teacher responsible for generations of studetns in Northwest Missouri will be honored with a scholarship.
Jo Ann Marion taught for 44 years in the Maryville area 37 of those at the Horace Mann laboratory school on the Northwest Campus. She died unexpectedly about a year ago and now, family members and friends have formed a memorial scholarship. The award will be made to a senior at Northwest planning to teach first of second grade. It will specifically go to education majors whose grade point is not above 2.8 reflecting Marion's own average academic record but ability to focus to become a legend in teaching. A committee has also been formed that could raise funds for spin-off projects, like providing technology and literature to Horace Mann school.
