ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2010-4-15) The senator from St. Joseph is leading the way for merging the Missouri highway patrol and the water patrol.
Senate president pro-tem Charlie shields is sponsoring the bill to merge the agencies, which he says will save the state 2 million dollars a year. Shield's bill was also amended to study the possible merger of 3 agencies that handle medicaid: the departments of social services, health and senior services, and mental health. The bill needs a final vote in the senate before moving over for consideration in the house.
