HIAWATHA, KS. (2010-4-2) The Hiawatha City commission decides to keep City salaries level.
At the last meeting Hiawatha's mayor Crosby Gernon announced the City would like to give staff raises, but aren't able to because of the economic conditions. Commissioners then passed an ordinance setting the pay rates with no increases and setting the health insurance contributions as well, with no changes there either. The City also re-appointed Erik Madson and Nancy Prawl to the Hiawatha housing board for 4 year terms. Commissioners also accepted the reports of the 2009 City audit.
