Funnel Cloud Follow

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2010-4-26) The national weather service is standing by its decision not to issue a tornado warning on Saturday even though at least 2 funnel clouds were spotted around the Maryville area.

About 2:30 Saturday a funnel cloud appeared Northwest of Maryville and triggered sirens in the City. But the national weather service issued a significant weather advisory rather than a warning because there were no super cells in the area and the system was a weak one. Audra Hennecke is with the national weather service in Pleasant Hill and says experts didn't think there was any danger involved. No property damage was reported from Saturday's weak outbreak, which advised Burlington Junction, Pickering, Conception, and Stanberry residents of the funnel cloud formations.
