St. Joseph, MO (2009-05-12) The St. Joseph School Board approves changing the district's boundaries.
The project was started in April after the defeat of
levy-bond proposals that would have given the District extra money.
The re-districting will reduce the number of elementary classrooms- that will effect kindergarten through 6th grade.
Two elementary schools in the St. Joseph District will close.
School District officials say the move came after a series of committee meetings and community focus groups.
The St. Joseph School District says despite the changes- which haven't happened since the early 1990's- they will continue to provide a quality education and curriculum.
