St. Joseph, MO (2009-05-14) The temperatures are rising and the St. Joseph Police Department is raising awareness of motor and bicycle safety.

The department is spreading the word for National Motorcycle and Bicycle Safety Month.

According to the department-motorcycle deaths increased last year seven percent from the year before.

Sergeant Bill Mccammon says the warmer weather typically brings more accidents.

The department stated 89 percent of crashes in the last two years resulted in an injury.
