Cotter Air Guard COS

St. Joseph, MO (2009-05-07) A St. Joseph native, Colonel Stephen Cotter, Commander of The One Hundred Thirty-Ninth Airlift Wing in St. Joseph, has recently been appointed as the Chief of Staff for the Missouri Air National Guard.

The promotion comes on the heels of an "excellent" rating
By Air Force inspectors from Air Mobility Command. The
Operational Readiness Inspection took more than a year of
preparation. The wing earned one of the highest ratings given
To any Air Guard unit in the past two and a half years.

Cotter is a command pilot and thirty-five-year veteran of
The Missouri Air National Guard. Cotter has more than seven
thousand military flying hours. Included in his numerous
Operations are Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Enduring
Freedom.

Cotter says he hates leaving the St. Joseph Command but is
excited about the state Chief of Staff position.
